Ultra Modern House by Karim Rashid – Komb House in Cairo

As the name implies, the parallels of lines lined up in arrays are the focal interest in this out-of-the box design by Karim Rashid. Starting as a installation at a local exhibition in Cairo, Egypt, the pictures presented here are the completed form of the project. Characteristic of true Karim form, the Komb has smooth, flowing curves that bend so beautifully that they create a sense of being liquid and creamy. The interiors of the space are separated into four quarters drawn from Rashid’s concept of eat, sleep, play, and cleanse. The general color theme carries brightness and cheerful atmosphere into the entire interior. The central area is inspired by Islamic patios and it features an oasis with a skylight and a center plunge pool.
